Leonard Churchill the Bulldog (1200-0960)
Whimsical in terracotta, Leonard Churchill the Bulldog is a sculpture by the emerging Thai artist Nhut Nhathawut. With an expression that is so lifelike, it feels he may bark at any moment, there are a number of artisanal aspects to the canine sculpture. This includes the obvious strokes of the artist's tools that play along the surface of the dog's body. Brownlee Currey had some fun describing this breed, saying, “Broad, strong and steadfast, Leo would rather be at home with family than appear as the mascot of your sporting event. Lazing about the residence, he does rather wonder what all those working dog types might be up to. Probably no good!”
